I’ve missed my bus due to a zoo | Rockhampton | Vlog 83

It’s already my last day in Rockhampton, and I’ve had a great time here! Over the past two days, I’ve seen all the main attractions, and after buying hiking poles, I went for a 24km hike yesterday! People said this place was not worth visiting, but they have never seen it and repeated other travellers saying the same thing.

Today, before moving on, I’ll check out the Rockhampton Zoo. Firstly, it’s free! Secondly, since I’ve had no luck seeing koalas on Magnetic Island, I want to see one here! Yes, it’s not the same, but it’s a free zoo! That makes it a great option. Shouldn’t all Zoo be free? I like the thought; it should be a fundamental right to get to know and see animals.

Okay, the Rockhampton Zoo was fantastic! But I’ve also missed my bus by spending too much time in the Zoo. Since I’ve already spent the last three days in Rockhampton, I was determined to reach my next destination today! Agnes Water, here I come! The following bus was only tomorrow, so I went out to hitchhike.

Unfortunately, I didn’t make it into Agnes Water, but I’ve made it to Gladstone. Gladstone wasn’t on my itinerary, but getting here gave me time to explore something more remote. Luckily, they have a hostel where I’m staying the night. It’s not a traveller’s hostel, but more a working hostel. All backpackers that come and work in this area live here together! After leaving my backpack, I went walking around in the harbour.

Back in the hostel, the atmosphere is unique. It made me think again about the option that I might be able to work in Australia for a while. I’m enjoying these places at the moment. Anyway, that’s enough seriousness for today. We are binge-watching the new season of Black Mirror! I haven’t had a television in ages, so I’d like to get through it all in one night! 😀
