I took a boat trip to the Whitsundays! | Airlie Beach | Vlog 77 & 78

Yesterday, I achieved my official certificate as an SSI Advanced diver. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do it while diving on the SS Yongala shipwreck. We went diving in caves instead, which was pretty awesome too. Besides, the result is still there, which made it more than worth it.

Because of this, I also decided not to stay any longer on Magnetic Island. There are still many stops along the east coast that I want to see. It’s not that I’m counting the days, but spending an extra day everywhere will add up soon.

In the morning, I took the ferry back to Townsville, had lunch with some friends, and got on the bus to Airlie Beach. With Arlie Beach being the harbour town for the Whitsundays, I can’t wait to get there!

I didn’t do much when I got to Airlie Beach. It was a long bus ride, and I ended up chatting with some travellers in the hostel. The next day, though, was my Whitsundays day! Besides Rottnest Island, this is one of the main reasons I came to Australia. And, wow, they didn’t disappoint me at all.

The Whitsundays were as impressive as I imagined them to be. I’ve been spending too much of my budget in the last weeks so I couldn’t spend much time on the islands, but this day tour was amazing! We did everything I hoped to do, and I am delighted!

Looking back at it, I should have planned this a little differently. I found out that you can also camp on the Whitsunday islands. My tour wasn’t bad, but I’ll skip the tour next time! I’ve written down this place, as it is worth re-visit. I’ll take a water taxi and go camping and hiking next time! Whitehaven beach, I will be back!
