The 154 City Pack from GRAMS28 – Product Review

It has been some time since our last blog post, but we are back with more exciting content. We apologise for the unexpected hiatus; we have recently concluded our latest Australian adventure and have been taking a well-deserved break from travel. Yentl has returned to Belgium after nearly five years, and I have returned to my home in King Island.

However, this is not the end of our journey! I will be home a few more weeks before heading to Belgium to work with Yentl on our website. It has been a busy couple of months, but we have used this break to rest, plan our next big adventures, and work on the website. Stay tuned for more updates!

Now for some more exciting news. We have been invited to review a brand-new bag from GRAMS28, a premium men’s accessory brand. GRAMS28 produces luxury, sophisticated, practical everyday products, including leather Folio’s, iPhone and Airpod cases, and travel bags.

After reading their email, I was hesitant. The offer sounded too good to be true! Especially after going for a deep dive through their website and customer reviews. However, we threw any worries to the wind at the prospect of seeing the bag and being able to use it for ourselves. Furthermore, this was my first extensive review, so I could not say no!

The 154 City Pack

After a short wait for international shipping, the bag arrived to King Island, and boy, oh boy, were we excited. The bags GRAMS28 produce are no short of luxury, and the 154 City Pack encompasses everything you expect from that and more. Made with Italian leather, this bag is small but very practical.

The bag features three compartments, including additional pockets for storage and organisation within the main compartment. All compartments are accessible through their own black zipper. Two of the three are almost hidden with exceptional design for a more seamless look.

The organisation pockets incorporated within make it easy to keep everything organised while maintaining the bag’s shape, so there are no massive bulges. Being promoted to comfortably carry travel essentials such as the 11″ iPad Pro (with the magic touch keyboard), a compact camera (such as a Sony ZV1), a phone, a water bottle, Airpods, a wallet and sunglasses, this bag appears to be everything a traveller needs. It even has a designated mesh compartment for the Apple AirTag for forgetful travellers.

First thoughts

My first thoughts on the bag were this: the packaging was great, smaller than expected, with nice leather and great pockets. The packaging for transport and first impressions of the bag were well done. When you open the boring and plain delivery box, you are greeted with GRAMS28’s packaging, and it did make me laugh. Again, the design is sophisticated, and I was happy to see the extra box to further secure the bag during delivery. The bag is also protected with a cloth slip, reassuring that they care for each bag.

When I did grab the bag out for the first time, it did seem much smaller than anticipated. After reading everything that could fit into it while not contorting the shape, I just imagined it would be more significant. However, this is not a critique. The size of the bag is well-suited for what it is made for once you get your head around it.

Everything has its place, so it’s not a “dump everything in” bag. The more I played around with it, the easier it was to see exactly what it could fit and what it could not. It really is an essential-only bag. As mentioned earlier, the pockets are great for helping organise and get the most into it. If you pack it correctly, you can take everything you need.

In summary

Overall, I really enjoy the 154 City Pack. The leather and finish of this bag are exceptionally high quality, and it benefits further from the lifetime warranty. While not 100% suited to backpacking, this bag is great for travellers looking for a sophisticated carry bag to hold all those loose essentials! If you travel for work or just need a smaller work bag, I recommend the 154 City Pack.
