Where did all the koalas go? | Magnetic Island adventures | Vlog 73

After miscounting my nights in Townsville and spending an extra day there, it’s time to go to Magnetic Island! I’ve said it before in my Rottnest Island post, but when your adventure starts with a ferry, you are in for a good time, no doubt! So this morning, I left my hostel in Townsville and went on the ferry

It is such a great day today, the sun is shining, and I’ve been using more sunscreen in the last weeks than in the rest of my life before this trip. #littleyentlfacts! At first, I was planning to hitchhike from the harbour to my hostel. Luckily, there happened to be a bus company on the island, so that was unnecessary! We are off to a good start on Magnetic Island.

I got to the hostel and checked in. There are plenty of hiking trails here, so I went exploring straight away! Since I had a rest day yesterday, I feel very energetic. On top of that, I’m just pleased to be here, which gives me an extra boost!

It’s beautiful on Magnetic Island. I got another day tomorrow to keep exploring the island before my next diving course starts. I’m considering staying longer than planned, but we will figure that out later.

The island is famous for its koala population. I hope to see one in the following days, but I have yet to be successful today. On the other hand, I’ve seen many great beaches today. The west coast was great, but these beaches are coming very close.

For sunset, I hiked to the highest point on the island. Afterwards, it was time to relax a little in the hostel. My hostel consists of beach cabins with six people each, and I’m completely in love with them! My first day was great. See you tomorrow!
