Discovering the local fair and markets | Berastagi | Vlog 156

Travelling means being on the move, and today that’s pictured by going from Tuk-Tuk to Berastagi. As a result, I leave my first destination in Sumatra behind. The past five days have been incredible and included everything I had wished it to be. It had a remarkable combination of spending quality time with myself, exploring the surroundings and being grateful for everything this adventure has given me.

Indeed, back in Belgium, I imagined this trip to be good. However, I could not have foreseen how much it would allow me to grow. Besides, it went a different way than any of my European trips, and I’m suddenly exploring some hidden corners of the world. Moreover, if this is what five months of travelling does, I can’t imagine what it will be like after a year of working and living in Australia

Travelling to Berastagi:

Talking about Australia, I took a bus from Tuk-Tuk to the other side of Samosir, where I had a 6-hour transport to Berastagi. Time enough to book my flight to Australia. So, I’m arriving on the first of July to start my working holiday visa. I choose Melbourne to start because of its fantastic music scene and because I haven’t been there before. Now, the only thing is that I will need to fly from Kuala Lumpur, so I have to make sure to get there again somewhere in the following weeks. It stresses me a little but also allows me to make long-term itineraries.

Arriving in Berastagi, I was tired, and it was already later in the afternoon. Firstly, I got rid of my backpack at my homestay. Afterwards, it was time to start exploring. I made it into the city centre after random walking around, where there were many people. Following the moving crowd, I bumped into a market and the local fair—a great way to start my Berastagi trip. I’m ready for this!
