It took a minute and not two months! | Jakarta – Indonesia | Vlog 123

Arriving in Jakarta doesn’t only mark the start of the eighth chapter in my travels. It also officially ends chapters six and seven simultaneously. Cruising in my van along the West Coast of Australia was incredible. On top of that, the adventure didn’t end there. I had the most fabulous time exploring the East Coast from Cairns to Sydney afterwards.

Australia was better than I expected it to be. But I must admit, I’m happy to be back in Asia. The last time I was here, three months ago, I rushed through, which I regretted afterwards. I’ll have about two months this time, as that is the expected processing time for my next visa in Australia. I am still determining what the two months will look like, but I plan to go from Jakarta to Bali and return to Jakarta as that makes flying out easier.

Arriving in Jakarta:

First, as soon as I arrived in Jakarta, I applied for my Working Holiday Visa. I couldn’t do it fast enough with the two-month estimated processing time. It’s a rule to apply for that visa outside of Australia, so I did that immediately. Excellent plan, and my visa got approved within a minute. If only I had known that beforehand. I would have planned this all differently! But I’ll take it as it comes, and I’m ready for Indonesia!

My first, and for now, the only day in Jakarta was packed. Once again, I didn’t sleep overnight and was so full of energy arriving here! I read all the travel guides I downloaded on the plane and wanted to tick off every bit! It felt like my first day in Bangkok

Spending too much time everywhere and enjoying being back in an Asian setting, I started taking trains. From my hostel in Kota Tua, I walked to Central Jakarta for the national monument, the Jakarta Cathedral and the Istaqlal Mosque, the largest in Southeast Asia! The highlights of the rest of that day were the Fatahillah Square and the history museum, where I learned everything about the dutch words on the buildings here. See you tomorrow
