My hostel is better than yours! | Canberra | Vlog 112

Okay, travelling overnight definitely comes with its pros and cons. On the one hand, it saves me a lot of time, and it is usually cheaper (not that it matters), but then, on the other hand, I’m also pretty exhausted when I reach my destination. This time, it was worth it, though. We had a rest stop in the middle of the night, which allowed me to call home and be part of their Eastern celebrations!

The sleep loss didn’t bother me that much, as I’m excited to get to Canberra. While switching buses, I even had a little morning glimpse of Sydney! It’s sometimes just part of travelling, and the distance between Coffs Harbour and Sydney would have meant losing a whole day.

Canberra

Canberra wouldn’t be the capital of Australia if the Australians didn’t fill it with national museums. As it suits Australia the best, they are all free to visit. Not wasting any time, I dropped my backpack at the hostel and went for my first stop on the itinerary—the national museum of Australia, a large museum full of all the details of Australia. Worth the visit, and in retrospect, I could have spent the whole day there. Because the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) wouldn’t be open on the other days of my trip, I had to combine both today.

It was a great first day in Canberra, and I had planned to check out the nightlife in the evening. Unfortunately, that part of my itinerary fell into the water because it started to rain. My hostel, the only hostel and therefore my only option, has a swimming pool and sauna included. Not bad for a hostel, so I went back and had the evening for myself. Switching between the sauna, the swimming pool and the jacuzzi, I can’t complain much. Happy Easter!
