Catching up on editing those travel videos here in Adelaide, exactly as I mentioned in the Phillip Island post a few days back. Today I’m genuinely thrilled to finally publish the after-movie from my unforgettable trip to Cradle Mountain National Park and Launceston.
My clear goal is to finish every pending video before departing for my next destination, so expect them dropping steadily over the next few days. Just two major projects remain: The Grampians and that epic South Coast Track — both progressing nicely through final edits.
Here’s the fresh upload:
Cradle Mountain National Park
The video kicks off with my multi-day adventure through Cradle Mountain National Park, where I made certain to visit every must-see viewpoint and trail section. I grabbed the hikers’ shuttle straight from Launceston to the famed Overland Track trailhead. While the Overland Track tempted strongly, I ultimately saved my legs for the far wilder South Coast Track instead.
The return journey made the real story though. Rather than paying again for hikers’ transport, I opted to hitchhike — and yes, even after dozens of road trips across Tasmania, nothing matched the remoteness of thumbing rides from Cradle Mountain’s trailhead. Pure luck prevailed: genuinely kind locals stopped, swapped trail stories during the drive, and one couple even delivered me directly to my hostel doorstep in Launceston — perfect end to a perfect park visit.
Launceston
The second half showcases Launceston, though I kept footage tight since one highlight absolutely dominated: Cataract Gorge. This breathtaking natural canyon lies just a quick 5-minute walk from the city center — nearly impossible to believe such dramatic cliffs, swimming pond, and peacocks wander so close to urban bustle. The video captures exactly why it’s Launceston’s crown jewel. A dedicated travel guide for the city follows soon.
These Tasmania closing moments — Cradle’s misty peaks, generous Tasmanian strangers, Launceston’s hidden gorge — still resonate strongly even now in Adelaide. Grampians and South Coast Track coming fast — the editing marathon continues while bigger plans take shape! Stay tuned 🙂
