Two months on the bus! | Cairns to Townsville | Vlog 70 & 71

I’m 70 days into travelling the world, and this day marks the official start of my east coast adventure in Australia! It’s also the first day of my Greyhound bus pass that I booked two days ago.

Leaving Cairns behind, I’m on my way to the second destination in Queensland, and it feels like time is flying by so fast! So many things are always happening simultaneously! After saying my goodbyes to the people I met in Cairns, I was ready to go! I was still determining what to expect, except for an island nearby called Magnetic Island, which stands pretty high on my list to visit! But, firstly, today I’m going to Townsville.

My first bus ride was a success; the next 45 days will be fascinating. I got to Townsville late afternoon and only did a little. I know; what a great start on the big east coast adventure trip.

There are many places, people and experiences in short time frames. But travelling gets you very tired sometimes. It only gives you a little time to wind down and be yourself. Even on the bus, it’s easy to converse with other travellers. Mostly it is the same conversation over and over. Where are you from originally? How long are you travelling? Where have you been? What’s on the planning?

The day after, on the contrary, I had so much energy again to go out and discover Townsville. Starting with the harbour, I calmly enjoyed my day. The parks, the birds and the palm trees, I can’t wish for anything more. It’s the little things in life that count.

In addition, making friends was easy in the hostel. In the evening, we all went up Castle Hills to enjoy the views and the sunset. Moreover, I already love that I’m travelling in the opposite direction. Other backpackers can give me tips and tricks for what’s about to follow on this east coast adventure! Great start!
