This is why I travel the world! To sleep in caves! | Taman Negara | Vlog 179

This day had everything I could wish for at the end of my first chapter of travelling. I’ll be arriving in Melbourne to live and work for a while in about three days. Therefore, my previous six-month journey is on its way to an end. It will be a different life again, and to make sure to enjoy these last days, Sarah and I booked a two-day jungle tour in the Taman Negara.

Its first day was fabulous. We have a fantastic group of people, and these rainforests are stunning. Besides, we walk the whole day, and if there is one way I like to see things, it is through hiking. In addition, if that’s hiking in a rainforest, it even doubles the fun.

Taman Negara:

We would meet at the river in the morning, where a boat would take us to the registration office. There we swapped backpacks and made sure to have all the necessities for our two-day trek. After that, we got on the boat again to get to the start of our trip. Our end goal today is a cave in the middle of the forest which will be our sleeping place. A great hike through mountains, hills, and rivers in the Taman Negara follows.

Our night in the cave was fantastic. The whole group came together and started playing card games from the moment we arrived. That was it. Add candlelight, laughter, and no phone reception to that, and you get the idea.

Besides, we were sleeping in an open cave and, plenty of wildlife came in to steal some of our food which added some extra sensation. Going to bed felt a bit strange as we also would be sleeping in the open, and we had snakes and wildlife before coming up close. That was on the ground. Additionally, we also had plenty of bats flying around above us. What an experience and what a night. I loved it.
