Please, take me anywhere away from here | Bandung – Indonesia | Vlog 127

After spending three days exploring the ins and outs of Bogor, it was time to move on. I’d grown to like Bogor, and I’m adjusting to travelling in Asia again. It’s more complicated than travelling in Australia, but that complexity often adds to the adventure. My next destination was Bandung, approximately 100km east of Bogor. I woke up early, and the staff from the hostel dropped me at a random bus stop.

I had to take a small bus north to the main bus station. Luckily for me, no one spoke English there. So, after explaining where I needed to go and being directed from stop to stop, I eventually found the right bus. However, schedules here work differently – the bus doesn’t depart at a specific time. Instead, they leave when the driver decides there are enough passengers to make the journey worthwhile.

Bandung

Yesterday, I explored the city, and afterwards, I was eager to leave the centre behind. By the time I arrived in Bandung, it was already late afternoon. I walked to the hostel to drop off my bag and immediately set out to explore. When I returned to the hostel, I asked about my options for seeing more of the area. They suggested hiring a driver to show me around Bandung.

It sounded like an excellent plan, so I agreed and asked my driver to take me on a tour. He recommended visiting one of his favourite spots – an old bridge spanning a river. I had no idea what to expect, so I was happy to go along. After driving for a while, we arrived at the bridge nestled among rice fields. For a late afternoon arrival, it turned out to be a wonderful day!

The Indonesian adventure perfectly blends sightseeing with the simple joy of being in Asia. This time, the journey itself is determining where it takes me. Thank you for following along.
