This Vietnamese city is completely empty.. | Vung Tau | Vlog 22

My new goal to see more of the countryside is going well. I have been doing primarily cities now, so I wanted to change and find a balance between the two. It started after visiting the Cu Chi tunnels, where I explored a little deeper into the Vietnamese culture. I liked to be out of the city and went to Ben Tre to see the Mekong Delta the day after. Today I’m finding a balance between the two by going to Vung Tau. It’s a city, but also, it’s not a city.

Vung Tau

Vung Tau, meaning Anchorage, is a city built by the sea. It’s not a natural build city, but it was made more famous by the tourism sector. They build it to get the big crowd out of Ho Chi Minh City and give it an alternative. Only for the public to stay out. It never gained popularity, and it’s empty. You drive on roads made for heavy traffic, almost entirely by yourself. It gives you the feeling that you are visiting a ghost town.

This morning, I added another boat to my list to Vung Tau. The ferry had great views of all the cargo ships that passed us. It was interesting to see how busy the harbour of Ho Chi Minh is. When I arrived, I hired a motorbike and went exploring.

The views everywhere are just stunning. They even put their own Jesus statue on a mountain! A reasonable effort to get the big crowd over. A little bit of Rio De Janeiro in Vietnam! I became friends with another motorbiker on the way. We went to see the sunset and had dinner together afterwards. It has been a great day, and I was happy to see this place myself.
