This is how the Buddha statues are made | Siem Reap | Vlog 11

I have to admit it; I was sad to leave Thailand early; it marked the start of my journey. And I’m sure; therefore, it will be iconic for the rest of this trip. Starting with Bangkok was a great choice. It’s the capital of backpacking trips. It’s where everybody learns their first how-to-backpack skills. It is the classic; “I am going on a world trip and starting in Bangkok story”.

However, changing countries was fascinating. Thailand will be iconic as the starting country, and Cambodia will be iconic for my true journey. Upon arriving in the second country, it has officially begun. I am a world traveller now.

The first full day in Cambodia!

It was my first full day in Cambodia! I visited the museum close to my hostel and did some general sightseeing. Afterwards, I even got into a workshop to see how they make those little statues out of stone. I don’t know if everybody gets to see the back, but I asked, and they allowed me. The precision these guys use to carve the statues is just astonishing. It’s such a great skill to have.

Afterwards, I took a stroll in one of the markets and ended up in the Hard Rock Cafe. It’s only day 11, and it’s already my second one to tick off the list. It will not be my last one. I’ve been saving up their t-shirts at home, but I couldn’t buy one this time. It will be too much to carry in my backpack.

I had many plans for the rest of the day, but I still went out for some drinks. I met two Dutch girls in the hostel that joined me. They are on a 3-week journey in Cambodia, taking the time to see a whole country slowly. How cool is that?

I should slow down after these Asia weeks. No more planning too much ahead! Sorry for not answering all the reactions to my social media posts. I have less to do than ever, but it feels so busy. Busy in a good way!
