I’m here to hike in the Cameron Highlands. Bring on those jungle walks! | Cameron Highlands | Vlog 174

Six months ago, I skipped the Cameron Highlands during my first trip to Malaysia. I’d wanted to visit because everyone told me it was a beautiful and relaxing place to explore. Back then, though, there wasn’t enough time in my itinerary to fit it in. Now, six months later, I’m here — but for different reasons.

Looking back on my travels and how they’ve developed over the past half-year, I’ve discovered a real passion for hiking. The main reason is that exploring places on foot is both cheaper and more rewarding. Over time, I started looking forward to — and even planning — multiple hikes at every destination.

As I like to challenge myself, those hikes have gradually become longer and more difficult. About halfway through my travels, I even bought a pair of hiking poles. This time, I came here specifically to hike in the Cameron Highlands.

Hike in the Cameron Highlands

Known as one of the best hiking areas in Malaysia, the Cameron Highlands offer ten famous trails — the most recommended routes according to locals. There are others, but these ten are considered the must-do hikes, ranked from short and easy to long and challenging. Two of them are even discouraged for most tourists because they require solid preparation and local knowledge.

You could probably guess where this is going — my goal is to hike all ten routes in the coming days. I’ve prepared well over the past few months, so even the tougher, “not recommended” hikes are calling my name. No time to waste! I’m kicking things off with two of the more challenging trails that lead up to Gunung Berenbun. I’m here to hike the Cameron Highlands — bring on those jungle walks!
