Is this Teletubbies land? | Samosir – Sumatra | Vlog 155

It’s already my fifth day in Sumatra. Once again and yet again, I can’t believe how fast time is flying. Besides, I have spent quite some time in Indonesia, coming here randomly after finding a banknote in Australia. I made a Samosir road trip yesterday to see the island a little bit closer. Ultimately, I only saw half of the things on my itinerary. Consequently, I am making another trip today to see the rest of the island and to add to the surroundings of Samosir. It’s a beautiful place, with mountains surrounding the lake.

The surroundings of Samosir:

Something I last did a while ago was spending time doing a hike. In Java and Bali, I went everywhere on a motorbike, significantly changing my travels compared to Australia. Hiring a motorbike is pretty cheap and allows me to see more in a shorter time frame. In addition, my knee has suffered a lot over the past weeks as I badly hurt it in my Banyuwangi scooter accident. Waking up this morning, I felt it. It was time to walk again, and instead of going to some waterfalls, I found the perfect place to hike in the afternoon.

Finding the perfect place to hike in the afternoon sounds good. But, as I did yesterday, I have to go to the other side of the island and back. Moreover, since I’m adding the surroundings of Samosir, I’m leaving the island on the other side, the only place where there is a bridge. Next to some little side trips, my main trip is the Bukit Holbung Samosir. It is a mountain with impressive views over Lake Toba and its surroundings.

On the other hand, it also requires a long drive that includes dirt tracks to get to the start. That’s without the large walk afterwards to the viewing point. But my life is all about travelling now, and it is the best feeling in the world, knowing that those things are the only thing to worry about. After my walk, I took the other way off the island back since I had already driven that other road before, and however this side is twice as long, I completed a whole loop around the island. #goals
