After two fantastic weeks blending cheesemaking shifts and electric music sessions on King Island, tomorrow morning I’m flying back to Melbourne Airport for Take 3! Third time’s the charm in Melbourne, where I’ll dive deeper into Victoria exploration while dodging winter’s icy fingers creeping across southern Australia.

King Island: Mission Accomplished
Returning to King Island delivered everything and more. The Yentl As Anything gig? Pure magic — our biggest, rowdiest crowd ever packed the King Island Club, screaming every lyric. My GoPro snagged full songs now live on the Yentl As Anything page — go listen! Might embed one right here too.
Beloved lensman Michael Laskey captured the chaos, so epic gig pictures dropping soon. Island family, sweaty dancefloor, drums shaking the walls — couldn’t have scripted a better two-week homecoming.
Winter Escape: Melbourne Take 3
Winter’s knocking hard on southern Australia’s door — time to bounce! Post-Melbourne plans are still simmering with some vague but exciting ideas (details when they’re locked). First stop though? Phillip Island — kicking off Take 3 with coastal perfection.
Everyone flocks to Phillip Island’s famous penguin parade (that $30+ entry, shoulder-to-shoulder tourists). Not this traveler! Saw better penguins for free on King Island — waddling past my tent at dusk, zero crowds. Coming soon: my hit list of superior, budget penguin spots nationwide where you skip lines and pricey tickets.
Give me Phillip Island’s walking tracks instead — those rugged coastal paths everyone’s raving about. Perfect training timing if bigger adventures pan out. Been told the coastline’s unreal — sheer cliffs, turquoise coves, waves pounding black rock. Can’t wait to lace up and disappear down those trails.
En route? Chocolate factory (free samples, obviously) and the legendary racetrack for adrenaline vibes. Might even compile a full “Phillip Island Walks That Wow” list soon — epic free coastal trails, hidden beaches, all the island magic minus tourist traps.
From King Island’s sweaty gigs to Phillip Island’s salty trails — mainland Take 3 loading. Winter who?
