I’m going on holiday! | Walking in Australia’s desert for two weeks

I’ve spent the last few weeks exploring the ins and outsides of Adelaide in South Australia. Next to wandering around in the inner city, I’ve made many day trips to the coastal areas and hiked in the Adelaide Hills. A couple of days ago, my friend Jesse arrived in Adelaide as we were both going on Holiday.

When Jesse and I lived in Melbourne almost two years ago, we walked the Great Ocean walk together. Afterwards, being so excited about our trip, we made plans to hike the Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory. Little did we or anyone expect that COVID-19 would suddenly stop all our projects. We had to cancel our trip multiple times over the last year. But, in the end, the wait was worth it because we are going on Holiday this time! I’ll tell you all about it below.

I’m going on Holiday!

Yesterday, we flew from Adelaide to Alice Springs. As Alice Springs has been on my list for a long time, it was also the last unvisited state in Australia. As a result of this, I officially visited all states! At the moment, we are busy preparing for our hike on the Larapinta Trail.

The Larapinta Trail is a 240km hike through the red desert of Australia. I know; it sounds fantastic. We have a ride to Mount Somber and walk back to Alice Springs. It is going to be extremely exciting! It will take us about 16 days, and with no shops on the way, we better be prepared!

Our Holiday continues after the Larapintra trail. We will also be road-tripping around Alice Springs. Besides seeing Alice Springs, we plan to visit Uluru and Kings Canyon. Because of all the hiking, I am leaving my computer in Adelaide. Jesse and I are going on Holiday, and my computer will get some rest. There will be no posts for the following month, but afterwards, I’ll make sure I post updates on the trip!
