This was our little road trip in Yogyakarta | Vlog 135

After a great day visiting the active volcano of Mount Merapi and an even better day visiting the temples near Yogyakarta, I’m keeping things more manageable today. When I got home yesterday from the temples, I hired a scooter to get myself to nearby viewing points. Afterwards, I returned to the hostel and told some of the friends that I had made about my trip. They had excellent suggestions about other places and were willing to join on the journey.

So, we are hiring a scooter for a little road trip around Yogyakarta today. It’s my planned-in rest day, so I am not fussy about where the day brings me. Besides, I only planned to stay here in Yogyakarta for three days. I have already made some bookings to double that amount.’

Road trip in Yogjakarta:

Our first stop on the itinerary today is Kalibiru. With our motorbikes, it’s a two-hour drive west of the city centre. Luckily Kalibiru is one of many destinations. In addition to the lookouts, we will visit some waterfalls and walk through the jungle for a while. The long drive will be worth it in the end.

Although writing this and editing my blogs and vlogs in retrospect, the waterfalls didn’t have any water, so maybe it was a long drive for what we did. But that’s if you count what we did. We did well, and although I like to be a solo traveller, finding some good company along the way is much fun! If you talk about three travellers on a road trip around Yogyakarta, just enjoying life. Well, then, this day was all about it.

Travelling in and to Indonesia is different from everything that I did before. After my five weeks travelling through Asia and the three months, I did in Australia; I’m gaining experience. I’m not a newbie anymore, and I can tell. Some people have just started their trips, and you suddenly get a little wow if you tell them you are almost at five months

Besides, I’m better a choosing the right people to hang out with, booking the places that suit me to stay and getting my itineraries sorted. My holiday is no longer a holiday but feels ultimately like a lifestyle.
