Feeling like a tourist in Surfers Paradise (Gold Coast) | Vlog 101

After celebrating one hundred days of travelling, it was time to get back on the road! I’m leaving Brisbane behind and heading to Surfers Paradise by bus. With my visa and bus pass time running out, it’s crucial to get organised. During the journey, I took the opportunity to properly plan the rest of my adventure along Australia’s east coast.

The plan is now official: I won’t make it to Melbourne on this trip. However, I can spend several days in Canberra, which I’ll visit before heading to Sydney—my likely departure point by flight. It’s also official that I’ll be returning to Australia; I still need to explore Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, and the Northern Territory. The specifics of where I’ll go in between remain a mystery, but there are far too many incredible places left to discover. I simply can’t go home like this as Australia was my main destination.

Surfers Paradise:

My first day in Surfers Paradise was wonderfully relaxed. I started by checking out the beach—after all, it’s a surfer’s paradise; what else would you expect? Back at the hostel, I enjoyed a brief rest and watched television for the second time on this entire trip. While I never watched much TV back in Belgium, doing so twice in 101 days is a record I’m oddly proud of. However, feeling guilty about lounging on the couch, I ventured out again for a drink at the Hard Rock Cafe. I had been saving my visit for after Asia to add another location to my collection! As luck would have it, I was treated to a stunning sunset on my walk back to the hostel.

I didn’t spend much time at the hostel, as a group wanted to head out and party. My last proper night out must have been back in Cairns, so what better way to kick off this new chapter of my adventure? Making friends along the way always proves useful!
