The adventure of teaching in Vietnam | Saigon | Vlog 18

Another country always makes it feel like a new start to this adventure. Yesterday I flew from Cambodia to Vietnam, and I’m entirely ready for this new adventure. It’s already the third country on my list, and we are not even three weeks into travelling yet. I sometimes regret that I made some of these bookings back in Belgium. I’m therefore limited in my choices to stay longer at certain places, as I underestimated how long I would need in each location.

It doesn’t matter much; it allows me to make the best of my time. In the end, it’s never going to be enough time. There will always be more to see wherever you go. It’s just a matter of making the right choices in filling in your time.

Vietnam War Museum

Sadly, when you say Vietnam, most people automatically have the Vietnam war in their minds. Unfortunately, that is also the case for me. That is one of the main reasons I wanted to visit this country. And, as I spent a day in Cambodia learning everything about its history, I have decided to do the same here. Today on my first full day, I’ll make a trip to the Vietnam War Museum.

While roaming the museum, I met a local Vietnamese man wandering around. This made it even more interesting as he added some insight information about the things I read in the museum. Afterwards, he took me to a local restaurant to try Vietnamese dishes. It was a super exciting and unique experience.

A good day, but that was not all: after meeting Christoph, the teacher in my hostel yesterday, we made plans to catch up again today. We talked about how I was a musician in Belgium, which interested him. He asked if I could lecture his class on Western music. So here I am on day 18, my first full day in Vietnam, learning everything about its history and teaching music! What a start.
