Crossing the border from Malaysia to Singapore wasn’t easy.. | Vlog 32

My second month of travelling has started, and Singapore it is! Today I am on my way to the fifth country on my travel itinerary. Singapore will also be my last Asian country for now. I will spend about a week here before I travel to Australia for three months. I can’t wait to explore my fifth country Singapore and all the other countries after it!

It has been an inspiring journey across South-East Asia. Never did I expect it to be this exciting. The last month was a learning curve that will help shape the rest of my travels.

Getting into Singapore

I took a bus from Muar to the Malaysian-Singaporean border and crossed on foot. Many people from Malaysia want to live in Singapore, so crossing the border is very strict. Luckily, I met some other backpackers doing the same thing. I’m happy that I didn’t have to do it alone. It was eventful, but all of us made it. I’m officially in my fifth country! Off to the city centre now on the bus!

Once I arrived at the Singaporian city centre, I went to the hostel to drop off my backpack. It was challenging; they overbooked my room and had no space. But since I started my second month of travelling today, I’ve been in too long Asia to let this happen. As I sometimes love making a drama (#dramaqueen), I made one over here, and I got a free upgrade to a private room since they suddenly found a spot available.

Excited, I got out as soon as possible to visit the harbour and start looking around. Time went quickly, but that was a good thing. Walking around the city, I saw signs of a music festival, and after some Google, I even went to three concerts! A great start to another beautiful country!
