Amazing places to eat and drink in Launceston, Tasmania

After living and working on King Island for over a year, I flew to mainland Tasmania to travel around, covering most of the state. Starting in the south of Tasmania, I slowly made my way up to the north. In the south, Hobart is the perfect spot to start exploring. In the north, Launceston will be the ideal city to begin your trip. Nevertheless, Launceston itself is beautiful and worth seeing. It has the best of both worlds; it’s not a big city, so it’s not very busy, but it’s big enough to make it an exciting and fantastic place to hang around. When I lived on King Island, it also became my go-to city for some time off the island. After multiple visits, I compiled this list of fantastic places to eat and drink in Launceston.

Below the after-movie that I made on one of my trips to Launceston, you will find the list of places you should go to when you are in Launceston to eat and drink. If you feel I need to include some places, let me know in the comments.

Buddha Thai – 168 Charles St.

Since 2012, this authentic Thai restaurant has brought the best flavours of Thailand to Launceston. The small cozy restaurant is a 5-minute walk from the city centre and a must-go-to on your trip to Launceston. It is a favourite with many locals, so I recommend booking in advance as it’s almost always full! Check out their website here.

This steak restaurant is a must-do for any meat lover. The building itself is impressive, built with convict bricks in the mid-1800s, giving your dinner even more character. They are the go-to Tasmanian steak specialists, using only premium grass-fed tassie yearling beef. However, if you don’t like steaks, there is an extensive menu with other options! Which makes for the perfect ending on my eat and drink in Launceston list. Check out their website here.
