One of the downsides of travelling must be spending so much time on public transport. Don’t get me wrong—it’s truly amazing to see so many places, and traveling from one destination to another is always exciting. But after a while, it becomes just another bus, train, or plane. I’m not complaining; I’m having a great time. This is just a thought I wanted to express here in my blogs and vlogs.
Today was no different. After breakfast and walking to the train station, it was already time to leave Jakarta. After Bali, I’m returning to Jakarta, so I only decided to spend one day here now. My destination today is Bogor—a city located about 50 kilometers south of Jakarta. It’s also a destination that tourists rarely visit, which is exactly why I decided to come here.
Bogor:
My first day in Bogor was everything I hoped it would be. I walked around aimlessly, exploring everywhere and nowhere at once. I saw many things I wouldn’t have encountered under different circumstances. My goals were simple: observe how people live here and where they live, and enjoy being in the heart of an Asian city I knew nothing about. By evening, I felt I had achieved that goal. I got myself lost a couple of times and loved every moment of it.
If there’s one thing I’ve missed during my travels, it’s spending more time in certain places. At the beginning of my travels, it made sense not to linger—there wasn’t much time for extended stays or exploring less-touristy cities on a nine-month trip around the world. But once I decided to extend this journey, I knew I had time for those places. They don’t have to be thrilling tourist destinations. I want to explore the world at my own pace, visiting some random places along the way. Bogor is one of them. See you on day 125!
