On top of the Petronas Towers! Check out those views! | Kuala Lumpur | Vlog 26

It’s my third day in Kuala Lumpur, and I have yet to see much around the city centre. The first day, after arriving in the evening, I went to see the Petronas Towers and had an easy night afterwards. A visit to the Hard Rock Cafe and the pool in my hostel was all I did.

I took the Skytrain out of the city yesterday to visit the Batu Caves. A complex of Hindu Temples inside Limestone caves outside of the centre. Today we take it one step further. We are returning to the Petronas Towers, but only seeing them isn’t enough. Today we are going to the top of one of the towers.

The Petronas Towers

Designed by the Argentine-American Architect Cesar Pelli, these 88-floor towers are a top attraction in Kuala Lumpur. Built on request by the Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas, offices mainly occupy these towers. They got constructed with reinforced concrete, with a steel and glass facade. The motifs it is based on are found in Islamic art to reflect the Malaysian Muslim religion.

The planning for the towers started in 1992, and from 1998 to 2004, these Towers were the tallest buildings in the world. It surpassed Taipei 101, making them the tallest twin building in the world.

If you ever get to Kuala Lumpur, the top of Petronas Towers is well worth checking out! The views of the city and the gardens are amazing. In addition, learning all about its history and building process is well worth the money.

Further in the afternoon, I went more sightseeing in and around Kuala Lumpur. The Botanical Gardens are gorgeous. The rainforest climate must make for so many beautiful plants and trees. Also, shopping malls are a must-do here. They are huge, and you will find everything you need here. To finish my day, I went to see a temple (surprise) and one of the many food markets. It’s been a good day.
