I’m in the middle of the Indonesian Rainforest! | Bukit Lawang | Vlog 161

The focus of today’s itinerary is seeing the bridges of Bukit Lawang. I said yesterday, let the journey begin, but I have to wait two days for my guide to be available. That is the downside of wanting to do my itinerary, but I happily take it. Instead, I’m exploring Bukit Lawang itself.

Besides exploring the bridges of Bukit Lawang, I also have some walking trails close to town that I will be hiking on. It’s such a great destination, and I’m happy that I convinced myself to come here. I’m scared of leaving my backpack, including my laptop, in town while doing the big hike, but that’s the way it goes.

Besides my computer, there are a few valuables in my backpack. If they want to take stuff, there are people with way more valuables than I will ever carry with me. So, let’s hope all will be good.

The bridges of Bukit Lawang;

The town is divided by a big river coming out of the rainforest. I say divided, but that’s only on a map. In reality, there are so many bridges that the bridges of Bukit Lawang have become a thing. It is because they are all constructed with ropes and wood. I guess one bridge is a bit more stable than the other. They all have their character, and I’m happily searching for the one I like the most.

It’s day 161, which means that my year of working and living in Australia is exactly three weeks away. I’m spending the week in the middle of the Sumatra rainforest, and I’ll be living in Melbourne in three weeks. At the moment, it’s hard to imagine.

I’m not exactly sure where I will live, but I need to find work soon as I’m running extremely low on money now, which makes sense after six months of travelling. But, still, living in Melbourne won’t be cheap.
