Festival of King Island (FOKI) – lineup announced!
I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that Yentl As Anything will perform at the 2022 Festival of King Island! After last year’s heartbreaking cancellation, FOKI—the island’s legendary annual celebration—is officially back on for Friday January 28th and Saturday January 29th! This weekend promises to be absolutely unmissable, packed with extraordinary live acts, mouthwatering food stalls, incredible people, and (fingers crossed) perfect summer weather. All ages welcome with activities for everyone—King Island pulls out all the stops for its biggest party of the year!
Landing this festival slot marks a massive milestone for the band. Our first ever major festival performance on King Island’s largest stage feels surreal for a group born from island dairy sheds and beachside pub gigs. With nonstop community support—from fans singing every word to local businesses cheering us on—we’re beyond excited to deliver our biggest hometown show yet. Rehearsals are electric; Wade, Tom, Daniel, Jess and I can’t wait to rock that main stage!
The Festival of King Island
The Festival of King Island has been running since 2015 over the last weekend of January into early February. It was born from Aussie artist Kim Churchill’s determination to help after the 2012 abattoir closure. The festival started as a humble container stage with minimal gear and six lights but has grown into a professional production with festival-grade equipment thanks to incredible volunteers like Kim George who flies back yearly from the mainland, joined by countless ex-islanders who return annually just for FOKI—their passion transformed a local event into Tasmania’s premier remote music celebration that now welcomes thousands alongside the island’s 1,500 residents each summer.
