Blog and vlog number two, and here I am in Bangkok, Thailand. Yes, Yentl Doggen, the new solo traveller, conquering the internet, is ready for his adventure! I took the train from the airport to the city centre of Bangkok. Although, first, I had to buy a sim card to get mobile data and search for how to actually get to the city centre. Yes, I didn’t research beforehand how I would get there. I just figured that I would make it.
When I finally got on the train, I randomly decided to get off a couple of stops before my stop. I couldn’t wait; this way, I also could see some landmarks on the way to the hostel. I was super tired as I didn’t sleep much on New Year’s Eve or the planes, but wow, there was so much energy in my body. These seven months of great adventure have finally started.
My first night:
For the first night, I booked a private room, and after making myself comfortable, I went to rest at the swimming pool. Really, it’s the second day of my travels, and the first one where I’m not just sitting on a plane, so that plan lasted a short time. I was itching to get out there. It was also overwhelming to go there alone. Yet, I figured, it couldn’t be that hard; in the end, Bangkok is the capital of backpackers. I am at the place where so many people started their trips around the world. Sure those people weren’t just sitting by the swimming pool? Has anyone ever seen the movie: The Beach? I think it also starts in Bangkok, and not by a swimming pool..
Afterwards, I was super happy that I found the confidence to get out there. Khao San Road didn’t disappoint me at all. It was another night of no sleeping, but this was the best start I could have given myself! We have started, and there is no turning back! Thank you for watching vlog 2.
