I completed all 10 jungle walks | Cameron Highlands | Vlog 176

I’m getting closer to arriving in Melbourne, as it is only a week away. In the last months, I sometimes got tired of constantly moving and seeing things daily. Now that I plan to settle down and work in Australia, these travels are like a holiday again. It feels like I’m on holiday from both working and travelling. After all this nature in the Cameron Highlands, it will be weird to be in a big city again.

I know this is the biggest first-world problem ever to have. It also feels ridiculous to me. On the other side, the feeling allows me to make the absolute best of the days I have left. Before moving to a big city, on today’s itinerary is more nature in the Cameron Highlands! It is hard to imagine that after being on the move for six months straight, this journey is about to come to an abrupt end.

Nature in the Cameron Highlands

To give me a little rest from hiking, I took a taxi in the morning to drive to some of the best viewing spots around. A few days ago, the guy I met in the hostel told me I should go and check them out! That guy also didn’t do any of the hikes in the end.

Although I was satisfied with the views, I had seen better views during my walks in the past few days and returned to the hostel. Nature in the Cameron Highlands is not driving around with a taxi, and we are in for jungle walks again.

I met a Danish girl with the same plan on the edge of leaving for the most challenging hike. That was great because we both didn’t have to do it alone. Together, we had a great time in the mossy forest. We also went for a coffee and a snack afterwards as a treat.

Besides, I happily went with her to some strawberry plants. When we returned, I still had to do my last hike to finish all ten of them, so I kept going. Although, that was after my laundry and haircut break, as I also had to do those things today. Better here in Asia, where it is cheaper than in expensive Melbourne.

It was late and dark when I returned to the hostel, and many people had arrived. As they seemed fun, the Danish girl and I went talking to them. I was about to leave tomorrow and had finished all the hikes. But now, it seems I’m staying a day longer to take that crew on another hike as a guide.
