I’m leaving, and that’s precisely why I came back! | Penang to Cameron Highlands | Vlog 173

Yesterday‘s night out was a big one — but I’d say I deserved it, as it was one of my last nights out. My upcoming destinations, including the Cameron Highlands, where I’m heading today, won’t offer much nightlife. Besides, I’m running on the last bit of my savings.

Next week, I’ll arrive in Melbourne with just enough to survive two or three weeks. From there, I’ll have to start saving from zero again. At the moment, I still don’t have a job lined up, so it’s uncertain how that will work out. But as I’ve said in earlier posts, I’m optimistic — my travels always seem to provide what I need when I need it most.

In the meantime, I’m looking into hostels where I could work in exchange for accommodation. The idea is to help out for about three hours a day — making beds and doing basic maintenance — without pay. In return, you get a bed and staff perks like free laundry. If I only had to buy food and didn’t pay rent, I could probably stretch my trip for another six weeks without a job, giving me some extra time to figure things out.

Next Destination: The Cameron Highlands

It was an early start this morning, though the party mood was still lingering. I’m leaving for the Cameron Highlands, and a few friends even woke up to say their goodbyes. The Cameron Highlands is one of the two destinations I wanted to visit during my first trip to Malaysia.

Along with cheaper flight tickets from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne, these spots are the main reasons I decided to come back. Not much will happen today since the journey involves a boat ride and a couple of long bus trips — it’s one of those travelling days. But starting tomorrow, we’re in for some great hikes!
