Let’s go to the beach, beach! | Perth – Cottesloe | Vlog 40

I’ll tell you some of the first things that come to my mind when you say the word Australia; sunshine, kangaroos, the red rock in the middle (Uluru, if you know what I am talking about), Sydney Opera House and beaches. I only got to see the sunshine so far, so we still have to check out all the rest.

I am starting today. It is time to check out those Australian beaches. Especially along the west coast, they are supposed to be magnificent. I can’t wait! Cottesloe, here we come.

Cottesloe

I was expecting to go to the beach by myself, but while having breakfast in the hostel and talking with other backpackers, some decided to come with me. That’s how it works in hostels; the more, the better! Only moments later, we all took the train to Cottesloe and were positively surprised. The water is so clear and blue here, and the weather couldn’t be better today. It’s hot, and the sun is being its glorious self. It didn’t take long before everybody swam in the sea and enjoyed being on the beach.

We planned to go home early to have dinner together at the hostel but bought something to eat in Cottesloe and stayed for the sunset. Afterwards, we took the train back to Perth, and while sitting on the train, looking for things to do in the evening, we discovered a light festival in the botanical gardens. That changed everything, and instead of returning to the hostel, we all went for this spectacle!

Such a great day and the first days in Perth and Australia are working well! More beaches will follow, more sunshine is on the way, and Sydney Opera House, Uluru and kangaroos will follow soon too. Exciting times here down under.
