If you haven’t read my last blog and vlog yet, I arrived in Coffs Harbour yesterday evening. Unfortunately, I must have searched for the wrong bus stop because what I thought would be a short walk to the hostel turned into a 2.5-hour trek. To make matters worse, it rained the entire time, leaving me completely drained by the time I reached the hostel around midnight. My trip here definitely could have started better.
The story continues today – I couldn’t sleep at all! When I checked my phone, it was already 4 am, and I still hadn’t gotten any rest. Rather than letting sleeplessness ruin my spirits, I decided to make the most of it with an extended sunrise walk. Starting at the Coffs Harbour Jetty, I made my way to Muttonbird Island Nature Reserve, a small nature reserve located right in front of the Coffs Harbour harbour. The experience was incredible, and the views were absolutely spectacular – definitely worth getting out of bed for! Not that I was getting any sleep anyway..
Coffs Harbour
Still feeling energized from the sunrise, I decided not to return to the hostel. Instead, I set out to explore some beautiful parks and botanical gardens. I walked the extensive loop trail through the gardens and thoroughly enjoyed some peaceful time alone. I felt incredibly grateful to be here in Coffs Harbour, with only five days remaining on my 45-day bus pass.
The previous months have been an incredible adventure! While there are certainly lessons to take away from this journey, overall, I wouldn’t change a thing. Coffs Harbour marks the beginning of the end of my amazing trip to Australia – at least for now!
So, with five more days remaining on my bus pass and approximately ten days until my 3-month visa expires, I’ve made a decision. I’ll return to Australia later to explore Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, and the Northern Territory.
So, I’m postponing my New Zealand trip by a couple of months and heading somewhere else while my new Australian visa processes. I wasn’t sure where to go until I walked into the hostel today! As I’ve mentioned before, my trip has a way of guiding itself – it sends me signs about where to go next. And walking in today, I spotted Indonesian money on the floor. Could this be my sign? I could head to Indonesia in 10 days!
