Walking the Great Ocean Walk | Devil’s Kitchen to the Twelve Apostles | Vlog 8

I can’t believe it, but it’s already our last day on the Great Ocean Walk. The past week has been incredible. We’ve fallen into a steady walking routine, waking up each morning to breathtaking views and plenty of time to simply enjoy them. Throughout the trip, people kept telling us about the famous “dunny” (Aussie slang for toilet) with a view at the final campsite — and yes, it’s real! The toilet here overlooks a gorgeous valley below, making it one of the most scenic restroom experiences you could ever have.

It was a misty morning, but nothing could stop us now. From here, the trail leads almost straight to the finish line at the Twelve Apostles. We felt bittersweet about leaving the walk behind; the experience had been far better than we ever imagined. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Great Ocean Walk to anyone visiting Australia — it’s an absolute must-do.

About halfway between the final campsite and the Twelve Apostles lies the small town of Princetown — a welcome stop for end-to-end hikers. After a week of dry meals, it’s the perfect place to treat yourself to real food before reaching the finish. We couldn’t skip it. I’d been craving a proper burger since we started, and it was everything I’d hoped for. It was also a great chance to sit down, relax, and have one last long chat with Claire before we went our separate ways after the walk.

With every step, the Twelve Apostles grew closer. Eight days of walking and disconnecting completely from society were coming to an end. The best part of it all was having no phone connection — pure freedom. Part of me wanted to turn around and do it again, but the sense of achievement that came with finishing was unforgettable.

We couldn’t stop smiling. We did it — the Great Ocean Walk was complete! The walk might have ended, but the adventure continued. We started hitchhiking to Port Campbell, a small coastal town where we planned to camp for the night. After a quick shopping run, we finally cracked open a few beers and looked back on an incredible week. What a journey it’s been.
