Inside Australia’s parliament buildings | Canberra | Vlog 114

This morning, my hostel wouldn’t let me leave my backpack there for the rest of the day. Since I’m departing Canberra tonight, they asked me to take it with me. This meant carrying all my belongings wherever I went. Fortunately, my backpack is relatively light and perfectly suited for backpacking—though it’s still a bit cumbersome. I didn’t let this minor inconvenience dampen my spirits as I set out to explore Canberra one last time!

Today I’m visiting all the places I had left to explore, from art galleries and libraries to the old and new Australian Parliament House. I also explored the gardens since it was such a sunny day. It’s been the perfect way to spend my final day in Canberra, and I’m excited to head to Sydney tomorrow—marking the end of Part 1 of my travels around Australia. Although, I haven’t really started to plan out Part 2, It’s probably going to happen.

Australian Parliament House

Day three in Canberra was exceptional—it was fascinating to explore both the old and new Australian Parliament Houses from the inside and outside. This is where all national decisions are made and the iconic location you constantly see on television during interviews.

I was surprised to discover that I could actually go inside and walk around the Parliament House. I had no idea this was possible, which is why the security wasn’t particularly pleased with my oversized backpack. But as a backpacker and traveller, what else would you expect?

On a related note, I also booked flight tickets this morning! If you’ve been following my blogs and vlogs, you may have already guessed my next destination. With less than a week remaining in Australia, it was definitely time.

Jakarta, Indonesia—and honestly, I can’t wait! I’ve been letting my travels unfold organically, and discovering an Indonesian bank note on the floor of my Coffs Harbour hostel seemed like a clear sign. There was only one direction to go! I’ll share what this change of plans means for the rest of my journey in a future post. Stay tuned!
