I was alone in the Malaysian rainforest | Gunung Ledang

Malaysia has been a great place to visit for me. It has that Asian background but also a western feeling. It’s a bit in between both, and I liked that. It made it easier to talk and relate to locals or to get around. While travelling, I met many great people who told me I had missed the northern part. I also wrote it on my list as I want to check that out. It might not be for this trip, but this trip might not be the last one I do.

Gunung Ledang

Today it’s my last day in Malaysia, and I still have one more stop between Muar and Singapore. I decided to go and explore Gunung Ledang Park. I took the morning bus and explored all the waterfalls in this nature reserve. Looking back and writing about it, I shouldn’t have done it all by myself. The rainforest is magnificent, but not exactly the place to explore by yourself. Especially since I didn’t even follow the walking tracks but just hiked along Gunung Ledang river instead. Nothing happened, no snakes or anything but a note for next time.

It’s the 31st of January, so I’ve been travelling solo for a month now! The journey has been incredible; I can’t describe it. All the places, the people I met, the hostel’s experiences, and even that is just a small selection of last month. It is truly crazy and fantastic what this does to me. I get chills when I think I still have over half a year to go.

Going travelling must have been one of the best choices I made to date. It’s not just travelling and seeing places; I changed my view of life and the world. And I repeat: it was only the first month, and it’s only going to get even crazier! I left a great life with the best people I could wish for in Belgium to do this, but wow, it has been tremendous so far.
