Yentl As Anything Reunion and back to the Island!

After two incredible weeks back in Melbourne rediscovering the city and dipping into the region with those long-awaited day trips, I’ve circled back to King Island. Talk about a homecoming! This island has a way of pulling you back when you least expect it — one minute you’re dodging Melbourne trams and chasing Grampians views, the next you’re breathing that familiar salty air and hearing waves crash against the Bass Strait cliffs.

Let’s start with the real MVPs — huge thanks to Nick and Issy for opening their home and letting me crash on the couch those first few nights in Melbourne. After months of tent platforms and hostel bunks, walking into a friend’s place felt like pure luxury. Good conversations, home-cooked meals, and that effortless “pick up where we left off” vibe — you guys made the mainland re-entry smooth and memorable. Island life awaits, but Melbourne wouldn’t have felt complete without you!

Coming back to King Island wasn’t exactly charted on the map. During my travels, I kept close contact with the bandmates, and man, I started missing those Sunday music sessions hard. Perfect timing too — the Yentl As Anything crew was itching for a reunion gig! A two-week pause from backpacking madness to rock out with my island family, plus some shifts at King Island Dairy to pad the savings for whatever comes next? That’s the kind of detour that feels like destiny.

🎸 OFFICIAL: Yentl As Anything REUNION CONCERT! 🎸

Drumroll please… the band is BACK! Marking the calendar for our first reunion show: April 23rd at the King Island Club! FREE entry (because good music shouldn’t cost you), and we’ve even lined up a DJ to keep the party raging long after we pack up the gear. Spread the word far and wide — locals, visitors, anyone who loves a proper island bash!

I wasn’t gone that long, but pulling into familiar driveways and catching up face-to-face hits different. These folks aren’t just friends; they’re family on the other side of the world. After everything — the welcomes, the road trips, the late-night studio hangs — treating them to a live gig feels like the least I could do. Grab your dancing shoes!

Sunday Studio Vibes & Island Rhythm

Fourteen months here drilled Sunday jams at Wade’s studio into my soul. Add leading the Anzac Memorial Day Parade to the mix, and this place became more than temporary — it became ritual. The chemistry? Electric. New songs poured out fast during those sessions, and a year-plus of playing together means we lock in instantly. Walking back into Wade’s feels like slipping on a favorite jacket — comfortable, familiar, right.

Truth be told, with this momentum, don’t be shocked if you see more reunion shows pop up. When the music flows like this and the crowd energy matches, why break the spell?

Dairy work kicks off tomorrow — back to flipping those 20kg cheese wheels and breathing factory rhythm while plotting Melbourne Take 3. Ping-ponging between island calm and mainland buzz? Best of both worlds. Who’s coming to the gig?! I know you are, Avalon ❤︎
