Yentl As Anything got published twice! | Becoming famous in Australia

Over the past few months, my King Island band Yentl As Anything has earned some incredible local recognition. Landing not one but two features in the King Island Courier! The first came on January 21st, celebrating our high-energy Australia Day gig in Naracoopa that had the whole town rocking. Then, just recently, we made headlines again for our epic show last month—proof that the island’s music scene can’t get enough of us!

Coming from Belgium as a solo traveler landing in Australia with zero contacts, breaking into the tight-knit King Island music world felt like lightning striking twice. First gigs, then newspaper coverage—it’s an achievement that fills me with immense pride and shows just how welcoming this remote Tasmanian gem truly is to passionate musicians willing to dive in headfirst.

I’ve shared both full articles right here on the page for you to check out. If you’re unfamiliar with the King Island Courier—King Island’s beloved local paper—scroll down to see the actual issues featuring our coverage. Holding those pages in your hands feels surreal when you’re a backpacker-turned-drummer far from home!

I left King Island a couple of months ago to chase new adventures across Australia. But the pull proved too strong—I’ve flown back twice already just to jam with my favorite bandmates and deliver shows that light up the island. The chances of it happening again? Extremely high. We’ve even hatched some bigger plans behind closed doors that could take Yentl As Anything to the next level. Don’t be surprised if the Courier features us again soon—or if we announce more gigs lighting up stages across the island!

Wade, Tom, Daniel, and Jess—you guys absolutely rock! Playing in Yentl As Anything has been one of the highlights of my entire Australian journey. Every reunion on the island feels like coming home, surrounded by band crew who make every rehearsal and performance unforgettable. Here’s to many more riffs, road trips, and headlines together!
