Travel Video: Bruny Island (the perfect trip and itinerary) | Tasmania

Two years ago was my first real attempt at making travel videos. My original plan? A full film for every destination I visited on my travels. In reality, life on the road proved a little less structured and far more spontaneous.

I ended up creating two videos from Thailand, another one for the Great Ocean Walk, and later, an after‑movie celebrating my Melbourne chapter. That was over a year ago — pretty much before King Island, before the pandemic pause, before settling down for a while.

Now that I’m travelling again, it’s time to restart that promise: to capture every place I explore and turn it into something lasting. And here it is — my second big attempt, featuring the wild, wonderful Bruny Island!

My Bruny Island After‑Movie

After leaving Hobart last week, I a few unforgettable days camping and hitchhiking across Bruny Island. The experience was every travel cliché in the best possible way — spontaneous, challenging, and full of incredible people.

This new video tells that story: small ferries, long walks, wild beaches, sleepless nights under the stars, and the incredible light that only Tasmania can produce. I’m also finally adding a writing project alongside the videos — a growing series of travel guides. The first one is already in progress: Ten Best Things to Do on Bruny Island.

What’s in the video?

Let’s talk about what you actually see. This wasn’t just a sightseeing trip — it was an adventure from start to finish. I relied on hitchhiking to move around the island, meeting strangers who turned into travel companions for a few kilometres at a time. With no accommodation booked, I camped at beaches, bushwalks, and roadside lookouts. That kind of freedom, the mix of uncertainty and wonder, reminded me exactly why I love this all in the first place — you can feel every bit of adventure in each frame.

- SeaLink ferry from Kettering to Bruny Island
- The Bruny Island Cheese and Beer Company (because priorities!)
- The Cape Bruny Lighthouse
- Labillardiere Peninsula hiking track
- The quiet village of Lunawanna
- Fluted Cape hiking track
- Adventure Bay Beach
- The white albino wallabies (unique to Bruny Island)
- The famous Neck of Tasmania

It was one of those trips that felt like a complete circle — from ferry to lighthouse, from sunrise hikes to star‑lit nights.

What’s next?

Tasmania has already proven full of surprises, and this first after‑movie is only the beginning. I’ll keep filming each step, from east‑coast cliffs to mountain lakes, until this whole island adventure becomes a full visual story. Stay tuned for upcoming videos, new travel guides, and more stories from the road — I’m finally on track again.
