60’s and 70’s night | This is something King Island has never seen before!

The last few months have been an absolute whirlwind—pretty hectic and seriously eventful in ways I never could’ve predicted. I’ll dive deeper into the full story in upcoming posts, but here’s the quick version: after my outback adventures and mainland explorations, I suddenly found myself spending three months living on the world’s largest sand island—K’gari (Fraser Island), where every day meant 4WD tracks, dingo encounters, and turquoise freshwater lakes that felt like another planet. But now for the news that’s got me buzzing louder than a King Island summer storm: Yentl As Anything is officially back together, and we’re headlining a massive 60’s and 70’s night right here on King Island!

Yes, I’m back on this magical island again—what is this now, the fourth time? From my original 14-month dairy work stint, multiple reunion gigs, and now this summer season residency, King Island just keeps pulling me back like nowhere else on earth. The best part? We’ve lined up so many gigs across the coming months that time’s going to vanish in a blur of rehearsals, stage lights, and that unbeatable island crowd energy!

The 60’s and 70’s night:

This retro-themed extravaganza launches our packed summer schedule with a bang. Yentl As Anything takes headline honors, but I’ve also assembled backing bands for two incredible opening acts: Lucie, a fresh new artist who’s just arrived on the island bringing raw talent and infectious energy, and The Lanky’s, that legendary local family band from the dairy farm you might remember from past shows. Rounding out the night, Rusty Falcon—another King Island favorite—brings their signature sound to warm up the crowd. It’s a full-on music marathon celebrating the golden eras of rock, soul, and disco!

Doors open at 7 PM sharp, so don’t miss a beat. The night packs way more than just tunes—a live quiz, amazing prizes for best-dressed (dig out those flares, fringe vests, and platform shoes!), and that classic island party vibe where everyone knows everyone. The rewards are seriously worth dressing up for—think quality swag that screams 60s/70s cool. Get ready to dance, sing along to classics, and make memories that’ll have you talking all summer!

Disrupted travels:

After leaving the island full of excitement to continue roaming Australia, reality hit hard. With COVID lockdowns crippling mainland travel—state border closures, quarantine hotels, and endless uncertainty—it became crystal clear that the safest, smartest spot in all of Australia was right here in Tasmania, staying gloriously COVID-free through responsible community choices. Travelling turned into a logistical nightmare everywhere else, so pivoting back to Tassie felt like the easiest, most sensible call.

Truth be told, I was missing music something fierce. Those King Island gigs—the electric connection with audiences who sing every word, the camaraderie of jamming with Wade, Tom, Daniel, and Jess, the sheer joy of drums echoing off beachside venues—nothing else compares. Summer season’s just igniting now with festivals, beach parties, and non-stop events, so timing couldn’t be more perfect. The island’s calling me home for riffs, reunions, and the kind of live shows that remind me why I picked up sticks in the first place. Who’s coming to rock with us?!

Stay tuned for gig dates, setlist reveals, and behind-the-scenes rehearsal madness. King Island summer music season is about to explode!
