Byron Bay served as a place to reflect on the previous months of my travels. Not emotionally per se, but more as a place where I got myself for the first time more days than I needed to see it all. A place where I didn’t try to get through a packed itinerary but where I could focus more on hanging around with the people I met.
My highlight was the Cape Byron Lighthouse because I took things very easy after that. The last days only existed out of sitting on the beach, going for drinks in the local bars and restaurants and enjoying the general atmosphere. It’s a small hippie town here, and I’m trying to take all of that. It’s okay to do it more alternatively because that’s what this place is all about.
The Hippie Town festival:
My life might have been more relaxed, but it got busier in Byron Bay over the last few days. This hippie town, as it should be, has its festival. I left at a good time, but it was my only option as I couldn’t extend my stay; people booked all accommodation out! If I had known, I could have changed the days I’m visiting this place and gone to the festival myself. It will be for the next time or at another location; so much more to follow on this trip. I can’t do everything. Too many places and I need more time.
From Byron Bay, I took the bus to Coffs Harbour. Unfortunately, this is my second last destination on the east coast. And it didn’t start that well. Leaving sunny hippie town Byron bay in the afternoon to arrive at about 9ish in Coffs Harbour, I must have looked up the wrong bus stop. I thought it would be a short walk to my hostel, but then Google Maps showed me a 2.5 hours walk. Not too bad; my backpack is light enough for that distance, and I would still be in the hostel before 12. But then it started to rain. What a bummer. Anyway, all soaked wet, I got here, wrote and edited this blog and vlog, and now it’s time for bed!
