Preparing tomorrow’s volcano climb on the Gundaling Hill | Berastagi | Vlog 157

My first morning in Berastagi was relaxing. I slept in, watched some series, and enjoyed the comfort of a big bed. While I usually try to see as much as possible at each new destination, sometimes I need to take things easier. Besides, I had some work to catch up on, as most of my job applications for Australia remained unanswered.

After updating my resume, I sent out more applications, hoping for the best. I took a shower and then went for breakfast around lunchtime. My initial plan to walk up to the volcano had to be postponed until tomorrow. I didn’t have enough time left today, so instead, I decided to explore Berastagi itself.

Exploring Berastagi:

Today’s main destination is Gundaling Hill, a must-visit spot when exploring Berastagi. Sitting at 1,575 meters above sea level, the hill offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area. It’s a popular gathering place for locals, thanks to its spacious park and playground.

The area is dotted with small bars, restaurants, and food stalls, making it an excellent spot for a day trip. It’s also an ideal vantage point for viewing Berastagi’s volcanoes from afar—Mount Sibayak and Mount Sinabung. Standing on one of the viewing platforms and gazing at them, I felt a twinge of regret for not making the hike today. But I’ll make sure to wake up earlier tomorrow.

In the evening, I focused on preparing travel logistics. Yesterday, I booked a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne. The next step was figuring out how to get from Berastagi to Kuala Lumpur. While my itinerary could use more detail, after hours of research, I have a solid plan for what’s coming after exploring Berastagi! I won’t spoil the surprise, but my next destination will be amazing. Stay tuned for more updates.
