Hitch-hiking in Malaysia #hikersproblems | Cameron Highlands | Vlog 175

It’s my second day hiking in the Cameron Highlands. And yes, you guessed it — more jungle walks are on today’s itinerary. That’s the main reason I came here, and that’s exactly what I’m doing. This morning was also the first time I made some new friends, and we went for breakfast together.

However, not everyone is as keen on hiking as I am. After breakfast, I set out on my own again to tackle today’s jungle trails. The hikes were easier than the ones I did yesterday but much longer. One of them even led beyond the Cameron Highlands, out into the tea plantations. At the end of the route, there’s a shop overlooking the mountains. I couldn’t wait to get there for a well-deserved after-hike drink.

Jungle walk adventures

The friend I met at the hostel wasn’t too excited about hiking, but I ran into a few other travellers along the way. After finishing the trail, we stopped for a coffee and a snack at the little shop. That’s when we realised none of us had figured out how to get back to town. The only solution? Hitchhiking. Luckily, people in Malaysia are incredibly friendly, and it didn’t take long before someone picked us up.

Back at the hostel, I met up with my friend again for dinner. There wasn’t much going on afterwards — after two full days of hiking, my body was exhausted. I went to bed early, gearing up for more hikes in the coming days. The jungle walks here are incredible, and I can only recommend trying them all. I’m really glad I came back to Malaysia and made it to the Cameron Highlands.
