I Love Rock ‘N Roll – Joan Jett
Although most people think the song I Love Rock ‘N Roll was initially written by Joan Jett, that isn’t true. The original authors of the music are Alan Merril and Jake Hooker. They first performed the song with the British rock Group, The Arrows in 1975. Jett’s highest-charting hit was a cover version by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts from her 1981 album of the same name, which peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and number three in 1982. The Recording Industry Association of America awarded the song a platinum certification, corresponding to two million copies distributed to stores. In 2016 Jett’s version made it into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
