The Police’s song Every Breath You Take was published on their 1983 album synchronicity. It was dominantly written by Sting and was the most prominent US and Canadian hit of the same year. Every Breath You Take was their fifth UK No.1 song and remained there for four weeks. The song is estimated to account for about a quarter to a third of Sting’s music publishing income in 2010. In May 2019, BMI recognised it as the most-played sing in radio history. Moreover, Sting received a BMI award for having the most performed song in the BMI catalogue.
