Day 5 and 6 on the Larapinta Trail – NT, Australia

My friend Jesse and I recently walked the Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory, just outside Alice Springs. We captured our trip through film, photos and in a journal. I have added pictures and extracts from Jesse’s journal to experience the adventure with us. Videos will follow soon.

Lots of love, Yentl and Jesse.

Day 5: Ormiston Gorge to Mt. Gilles Lookout

Today has been a tough day for a couple of reasons; we are sleeping on top of the mountain, so we had to take water for two days. After the food drop yesterday, our packs are full again, and the whole day was uphill. It was worth it because this place is beautiful and comes together with Heather’s companionship :)

Day 6: Mt. Gilles Lookout to Serpentine Chalet Dam

Today we were walking at 8.30 am! It is overcast and cold but ideal hiking weather. We walked for about 5 hours to the Ochre Pits sidetrack, had lunch and did the 3 hours side-trip. The walk was beautiful. Getting to camp afterwards, we had a warm welcome by Richard and Noel (our official trail squad, haha). Tonight there is a big lunar eclipse at hikers midnight! (9 pm)
